Apocolypse NAO Contest Update 2

Journal Entry: Wed Jul 30, 2008, 12:17 PM
moooooOOOOOAAAAAAoooooonnnNNNNN...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Okay, it stands to say again that I need you all to get the word out about this so I can get it off the ground. Everyone who plans on entering the contest should make a journal about this contest in order to get more people to see.
EDIT: I've decided to make an alteration to the contest. As the current plan is to have four groups of 5, there will be four possible locations for your group to take shelter, and they will eb randomly selected for your group. Round One will consist of your character meeting up with his/her group and heading there, the rest of the rounds is up to you:
1. Sports Authority or other sports supply store: Not only are their plenty of weapons available ranging form guns to baseball bats, but there are also high-energy food supplies like beef jerky, trail mix, and others.
2. Grocery Store: Enough food supplies to last for months, maybe even over a year. Not to mention a variety of items like shopping carts and others you can use to barricade the doors.
3. Hardware Store: Hardware stores are the most easily barricaded shelters for obvious reasons. The food supply is very low, but they're usually found near grocery stores so if there are no immediate threats you can transport all the non-perishables to the hardware store first.
4. Tall Building: Any buisness office is a good place because there are many floors and vending machines, maybe even a kitchen, for food. Good option as long as YOU DON'T USE THE ELEVATOR.
Now back to the contest rules:
Concept: Kill zombies, show of your talent, and fight your way to the top.
Format: The number of entrants will be a multiple of 5, and depending on how many people enter the contest the number might be a lot of a little. My goal is to get 20 people to enter, but if enough people do maybe even more (maybe 25, maybe 30, maybe even 35! but I'm not going to expect that XD).
Entrants will be divided into groups of 5 (hence the above statement). Each round, you must, you guessed it, make a comic, animation, or prose (NOTE: Prose entries must be WELL WRITTEN. Im accepting prose entries because some people are great artists and writers but bad at comics). In the entry, your character is travelling with your group mates and it must depict one of your group-mates being picked off one way or another. The best entry in each group gets "immunity", and the person they decided dies dies. When it comes to zombies, you don't have to be able to go fast, just not the slowest ;). Also don't be a jerk to your fellow entrants, it won't pay off. (do i see a hint of Survivor in here?)
You have complete freedom when it comes to making your story. Your character can be scavenging for supplies, coming up with an inventive way to deal with the undead problem, getting into a fight with another member of the group, or just bashing in some rotting heads. The only thing that must happen is a character must die. Almost everyone dies in zombie films, and this tournament is no different.
Characters: Characters MUST be something that exists in this world. No furries, no orcs, just your real world stuff. You can have some little things like maybe a 6th sense or other minor things, because they have occurrences in real life and it's just a matter of wether you believe or not. You can also have characters that are animals. A wolf, a dog, a cat, anything that you can see traveling with a band of humans and fast enough to escape zombies (it would be quite interesting to see a group of entirely animals). And your animals Are allowed to have personification, by this I mean they can be thinking thoughts, communicating with other animals in the comic, or even telepathically communicating with a character who claims to be able to talk to animals.
Auditions: Simply create a character sheet for your character or make a comic that introduces them to the plot. You can do both if you have time, but it won't help your chances tremendously, but it will give me a taste of what you can do and what you'll bring to this competition.
Deadline: Currently there is no deadline since I haven't gotten a single entry, but after they start coming I will set one. I haven't set a definite length for rounds either, but for now I'm going to say they'll be one week.
That being said, I'm looking forward to this contest if in fact it does get off the ground.
your comics aren't that bad, really. You just need practice. The concepts are good, so you need is...
Life is like a closet full of time bombs: You don't know which ones are active, and in the end, it doesn't matter.
Since I find i've had alott of freetime lately;; i'll try this out ^^
I'll start a character sheet noww!
-grabs pencil and runs off - :3
so the entering character has to be, like, normal? can there be futuristic characters? (within reason i mean, no super lasers and high tech tanks, i just want to know if robotic ppl are acceptable)
IF I HAD JUST STUCK TO MY ORIGINAL PLAN IT WOULD HAVE ALL WORKED OUT! Why don't i listen to me?
not really. altho the technolgoy exists to have prothetic (robotic) limbs, but that's as far as u can get.
if you have a character that's not within reason, try toning him down or re-working them to fit this scenario.
